Our Goals
We are actively engaged in the journey to sustainability. We aim to minimize the environmental impact of our products throughout our operations, beginning with product development and ending with recycling and recovery of used materials and products. Greif has an ongoing commitment to minimize the impact our business has on the environment with methods that are socially responsible, scientifically based and economically sound.
We reduced our energy consumption company-wide by 10 percent between 2007 and 2010, meeting our first sustainability goal. We have set the bar even higher with the introduction of a more ambitious, next-generation set of goals.
The Foundation
Establish best-in-class sustainability management practices for measurement, tracking and continuous improvement in resource consumption and carbon emissions.
Medium-Term Goals
Reduce energy consumption per unit of production by 15 percent over a fiscal year 2008 baseline by the end of fiscal year 2015.
We have reduced our energy consumption by 5 percent from our fiscal year 2008 baseline.
Reduce greenhouse gas emissions per unit of production by 15 percent over a fiscal year 2008 baseline by the end of fiscal year 2015.
We have reduced our GHG emissions by 11 percent from our fiscal year 2008 baseline.
Aspirational Goals
Reduce energy consumption per unit of production by 30 percent over a fiscal year 2008 baseline by the end of fiscal year 2020.
Reduce greenhouse gas emissions per unit of production by 30 percent over a fiscal year 2008 baseline by the end of fiscal year 2020.
Reach the target of zero landfill waste by the end of fiscal year 2020.
